Quanta Magazine is a very good place for approachable scientific communication and reading. It strikes the balance between not being trivial, while remaining engaging and readable. They have a recent series on climate change. I did not read much from it yet, but found both the The Climate Change Paradox and How Climate Scientists Saw the Future Before It Arrived worth my while.
